Lake Panorama, a 1,400/acre private lake north of Panora, began with an idea brought together by 4 citizens from Panora in the mid-1960's. With keeping Guthrie County an attractive place for people to live and play as their goal, they chose a back water area for the lake that would be fed by the Middle Raccoon River. By 1970, a dam was completed along with a members' lodge with swimming pool and tennis courts, a restaurant and plans for a golf course.
